FOSTER CARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Thank you so much for your interest in the Foster Care Program. Fostering is a wonderful opportunity to help animals. The information below can help you decide which part you can play in saving animals' lives. You must first become a Adult PHS volunteer by attending an information meeting, then our Volunteer Orientation. Depending on your experience you may also be asked to complete Kennel Training, Animal Handling Training, and Foster Care Training.

Make sure to ask for your Foster Care Application at the Volunteer Orientation!

Here is some of what Foster Care volunteers agree to do:

  • care for orphaned, sick, or injured animals
(MOST OFTEN FOSTERS NEEDED: ORPHANED KITTENS AGED 4-7 WEEKS)
  • be well prepared at home and responsible pet owners
  • report regularly to staff regarding health & behavior of foster animals
  • follow instructions and directions from staff regarding foster animals
  • take their foster assignments seriously
  • if you rent where you live, provide a statement from your landlord that you have permission to foster the type and number of animals you request
  • provide proof of vet records for your own cats, dogs & rabbits to show they are up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed and neutered
  • understand that they may not adopt their foster animal themselves or place in another home without written permission from the PHS Foster Care Coordinator
