Classroom Presentations

Age-appropriate presentations are available to schools, scout/youth groups and adults. Presentations can be at any facility within our service area of Arcadia, La Canada, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena. You can choose from a variety of subjects such as:

“Dogs Can Hear Hair Grow!” Yes, scientists believe that dogs have very acute hearing and are able to hear hair growing. This interesting fact is part of our humane education program's “Dog Jobs” presentation. Students learn when dogs have nothing to do then they get into trouble like barking, digging and chewing which are reasons why they are given to the Society. (Can be directed to all grades.)

“Tails Don't Bite” Pet Safety is a subject everyone is concerned about. Children often learn from example and what adults tell them. A wagging tail does not mean you can pet. This program is designed to give students the tools to interact with animals safely. (Can be directed to all grades.)

“The Animal Series” is created to cover a single animal subject a sessions when appropriate live animals are part of the presentation. Classes can schedule 3 to 7 sessions during the school year.  The animal subjects are; dogs, cats, reptiles, small mammals, fish, wildlife and The Humane Society. (For 3rd and 4th grades only.)

“Careers with Animals” can range from the veterinarian to the pet store clerk. Students learn about the amount of education required for the job as well as the type of works each job entails. Above all they learn working with animals requires dedication and patience. (Created for Middle School and High School.)

“Animal Rights/ Animal Welfare” is presented to help students understand perception, attitudes, and animal issues. Specific issues can be addressed upon request. (For High School and College Students only.)
