If you LOST a pet

Start looking for your pet the same day is lost - don't wait!

  1. Visit all the shelters in your area or the area in which your pet was lost. Look in every kennel and ask staff about the offsite/back kennels, DOA lists, and found lists. Fill out a lost pet report with a photo of your pet. Recheck each shelter every other day, in person. The legal holding period for found animals is 4 days.
  2. Post lost pet flyers in the area in which your pet was lost.
  3. Check internet for online found pet listings for all the shelters, if available. Our online listings are updated hourly, but are not a substitute for coming in person to the shelter.
  4. If your cat is an indoor-only pet, we strongly recommend renting a humane trap to catch your cat. Residents in our service area can call our main office for trap rental.
