About These Numbers… above is one of our monthly impound reports, a summary of the work our animal control officers do each month on a 24/7 basis. It lists number and type of animal, and whether the animal was found dead or alive. This report also shows our ACO's expertise and flexibility. Look over the number and variety of live animals we take in and temporarily care for until release into remote areas (wildlife), adoption or pickup by owner (pets).

To give an example of our yearly statistics: in 2001, we took in a total of 4,387 dogs and 3,359 cats. Of these 7,746 animals, 6,003 were stray and 1,174 were turned in by their owners. 1,202 dogs (27% of total dogs in) and 74 cats (2%) were returned to their owner. 1,683 dogs and 1,218 cats were adopted. In comparision to prior years, both cat and dog intake went down by hundreds of animals, adoptions increased and fewer animals were euthanized due to lack of interest/space needed. This is part of the mission of our organization.
