Happy Adoption Stories - Watson

February 26, 2007

To everyone at PHS and adopters,

Watson was referred to me by Blake Donovan, president of ResQpets, a non-profit organization. As a dog lover and trainer, I wanted to rescue an elderly dog so he/she could live their last days in a loving home, not a shelter. One day Blake sent me an email sent to him by Jennifer Warner at the Pasadena Humane Society. I went the next day to see him and I immediately fell in love with him.

I couldn't believe he was 14 years old! Besides some stiffness in his hind legs and needing a bath and a toothbrushing, he was in great condition. It turns out his owners were moving to Australia and couldn't take him with them so they dropped him off at the shelter. February 13, 2007 I brought him home, and we also made that day his official birthday (since we didn't know his real one). Since then he's gained weight and is as energetic as ever!! And he'll be getting VIP treatment from Tracy's father-in-law, a veterinarian.

He's now a very loved member of the family, and he's already starting to get spoiled! When he wants to play he'll bring the tennis ball to you to play fetch with him. When he wants you to pet him, he'll keep pawing at you to shake his hand. He'll whine until you put the car window down. He'll even go through your armpit to get petted. He gets along with other dogs but ignores them when they're barking annoyingly at him. What a character!! We love him!

Likes: Playing fetch, riding in the car with the window down, Happy Hips chicken strips, licking faces

Pet-Peeves: People touching his ID tags, getting his toe hairs trimmed

Favorite Toy: Tennis ball

Best Tricks: Shake, stay, sit, down, lie down, go to sleep, dropping the ball in front of you after fetching it

Thanks,
Tracy, Tracy's mom and dad, husband John, Kirby the corgi, Pikachu the chinchilla, and of course, Watson. <3
