Happy Adoption Stories - Phoebe

This is Phoebe, a sweet, playful little pit mix I adopted from your shelter on April 17, 2002. She loves playing with her toys and in her yard, going with her mom for walks around her new neighborhood in Glendale and in the hills, and waking her mom up in the morning with a big wet nose in the face. Phoebe is a very smart little girl who loves her obedience training. She had several private training lessons at home and looks forward to signing up for her third group class soon (she's a two-time graduate). Sometimes she's too smart - she knows just what it takes to get a treat. She's still pretty rambunctious, but gets calmer by the week. Still, her mom shudders every time she hears those killer nails on the hardwood floors!

Soon after Phoebe came home, her mom's brother and his friend built a nice secure dog run for her right behind the garage. There is a doggie door right from her run into the garage, where Phoebe can find her toys and her water. Her grandpa put up a nice canopy over part of her run so she can have shade AND a breeze at the same time. Even though she has a nice place to play during the day while her mom is at work, she still streaks across the lawn and into the house as soon as mom comes home.

Phoebe is quite gregarious and loves all people, but isn't so sure how she feels about other doggies yet. One of her hobbies is sitting in front of windows or screen doors, watching any and all activity outside (even if her mom can't tell what she's looking at so intently!) Her job, as she sees it, is to guard her mom from the cats, birds, squirrels, possums, bunnies, occasional dogs and especially crickets that might come into her yard at any moment.

I often wonder what Phoebe's history is. Her kennel card identified her as an owner turn-in. Obviously, her previous owners loved her and treated her with kindness - she shows no signs of abuse or fear of people. She is a wonderful little dog and I'm sure it was a sad and difficult decision to give her up. I hope somehow her previous owners know that now Phoebe is safe, warm, happy and very very loved (and, okay, a little spoiled).

Phoebe is very sweet, smart, devoted, and affectionate. Most of all, she's a happy little girl who loves to have fun! Phoebe had a blast meeting all the other doggies participating in this year's Wiggle Waggle Walk, although she wouldn't do any of the jumps in the agility obstacle course unless her mom took them first!
