Happy Adoption Stories - Lucky

August 30, 2006

In February 8, 1999 My husband I and I adopted our Lucky from you. The day I picked him up to take him home he made himself comfortable in the passenger seat like we made been buddies forever. The first day I took him to the dog park everyone said it was like we had been friends forever. The first time we met we were best friends.

It wasn't always easy. Lucky needed training because he was very fearful of people when he was on a leash or in our home - no doubt protecting. At the dog park he was totally different, life of the party. Over time, his trust level improved and people are always attracted to him because he also looks like he is smiling and he is smart as whip - he knows 20 tricks! I swear he understands every thing that's going on around him and he can predict my every move.

In 2000 we moved to New York City and we all drove across country. Lucky loved it! Rides in the car, parks every where and hotels every night. NY was easy for him, but he misses smelling the flowers in California. That same year we found a dog on street one year younger then Lucky and looks like his brown, taller and thinner brother. We named him Sprewell and they are like night and day. Lucky's toy drive is endless and all Sprewell wants is to cuddle. Bringing Sprewell into our home calmed Lucky and they really rely on each other. They make a great pair.

Now Lucky is eight and still going strong. He is going grey, but all he wants is for me to throw a toy for hours on end. And he is still my co-pilot in the car when we drive to country.

I am writing you this letter to celebrate what a great dog and friend Lucky has been. How lucky we where to find him that day in Pasadena.
