Happy Adoption Stories - Journey

February 18, 2006

I adopted Journey, a German Shepherd mix, in early October, 2005. She is now a 6 month old puppy full of energy being trained to be a service dog with the help of videos that assist owners with disabilities to train their own service dogs. She is making progress, goes with me on public transportation and particularly likes ball play. If there are other people with disabilities interested in adopting and service training a dog, videos can be purchased at www.topdogusa.org. Service dog classes are also available there.

When I can get a recent picture of her, I'll be happy to send it. (Photo above is her intake photo at the shelter.) Journey is doing beautifully in all ways. I love her very much and she is a very special, intelligent dog. I have been working with a trainer and while she used to be aggressive with other dogs, she is now much better and I found out she is a Belgian Malinois, which keeps me quite busy.

Thanks,
Laura
