| Happy Adoption Stories - Billy & Twix
There once was a girl named Kathy who loved dogs. The place where she lived didn't allow dogs, so she thought that she could voluteer at the local animal shelter without bringing them all home. This worked quite well until she met Billy. Billy was a very sad and lonely boy in his kennel. When people walked by or approached him, he couldn't even muster a wag. But one day he went out with the Mobile Outreach van (2 - click on the numbers to view photos) and it turned out that he was the friendliest, smiliest boy the volunteers had ever seen. Sadly, he had been at the shelter for a very long time and still hadn't been adopted. There just weren't enough homes for all the animals. Kathy and another volunteer were discussing this dilemma one day. Kathy said that she would adopt Billy in a second if she had a place to take him home to. The other volunteer (who was a most kind and generous person!) also loved Billy. She said that she had a place for Kathy and Billy to stay while they looked for a place of their own. (3) So Billy and Kathy went happily off together to their temporary home. They soon found a place of their own, and settled in to live happily ever after. Almost. Billy was a very social boy and he was still very lonely all day while Kathy was at work. He needed a playmate. (4) Enter Twix. Twix was an adorable little fluffball when he came to the shelter. Before long he had outgrown the puppy area, and had to be moved to his own kennel like the big boys. As playful and affectionate as he was (and don't forget adorable!) he still didn't get adopted. (5) So he came home with Kathy to be Billy's little brother. Billy was always very patient and gentle with Twix, even though Twix was a bit of a pest. He followed Billy everywhere, and did everything Billy did. This worked out well for Kathy. Twix was, after all, still a puppy. And as such, he could get into a great deal of mischief. But by following Billy's example, Twix soon learned the house rules, as well as lots of cute tricks. And when Billy figured out that he no longer had to be lonely all day, he decided that Twix was pretty nice to have around. These days Kathy, Billy and Twix are a happy little family. (6) (7) (8). They enjoy trips to dog beach and the dog park (9). They go visit friends, and have friends over for visits (10). They have fun on trips to the mountains, the desert, the pet store, and even the laundromat and the vet! And sometimes they just cuddle up at home together and watch Animal Planet. Oh, and one more thing. (11) Twix got BIGGER. Photos coming soon - click on the numbers to see them!
