Happy Adoption Stories - Bella

After checking the website and visiting the shelter for weeks, I fell in love with the dog who would come to be known to me as "Bella." Upon visiting her at the shelter for the first time, I discovered that she was sharing a kennel with her brother. They appeared to be a mixture of German Sheperd and Whippet. These siblings seemed inseparable. I decided that it was not practical or realistic for me to adopt two dogs, yet I did not want to be the one to separate this pair.

A few days went by with me checking the website frequently. One day, the brother's identifying information did not come up- he had been adopted! Now I knew that Bella was all alone. I waited for the shelter to open Monday morning. I spent some time with this quiet, very timid, dirty and skinny canine, and was taken by her gracefulness and gentleness. I took Bella home, explaining to her in the car that I would never giver her up. That was 10/26/04. Over a year later, she is my loyal and affectionate companion with a deligtful personality. She loves the beach, hiking and dog parks, anywhere that she can make new friends! I found my best friend at the Pasadena Humane Society.

Thank you,
Amy
