| Why
Your Help Is Needed
•
The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA was founded in 1903. We are an
independent, non-profit, donor-supported organization
•
We serve seven cities with a combined population of approximately 500,000
people.
•
We are an Open Door Shelter. As such, we accept and care for each animal
that comes to us from our service area—an average of 40 a day. We
never turn away an animal for any reason.
•
We provide food, shelter and medical care to thousands of domestic and
wild animals each year. In 2005, we took in nearly 11,000 animals from
our service cities. Your support is vital in helping us provide these
necessities.
•
To help control pet over population, our shelter sterilizes all animals
adopted from the shelter before they go to their new home.
•
Because we believe that days are brighter and we are healthier when animals
are around, our volunteers take pets to visit patients in hospitals, convalescent
homes and special care facilities.
•
Through our Humane Education Program, school children and other members
of our community learn proper pet care and the appreciation and humane
treatment of animals. |
