GARTH KEMPABC7 "EYEWITNESS NEWS"
Garth grew up in the San Fernando Valley. In 1978, while attending Metro
State University in Denver, Garth stopped at a local radio station promotion
and on a whim, asked for a job. Hearing his booming voice, the station
manager hired him on the spot for weekends and fill-in! In 1992, after stints in Miami, Houston, and Denver, he wound up at KQRS-FM in Minneapolis, where the cold winters started him thinking more and more about going home. And so, in October 1997, after nineteen years away, Garth grabbed the brass ring, afternoon drivetime at our sister station 95.5 KLOS-FM, and came home. This show, his charity work in the community, and various on-air appearances in Los Angeles brought him to the attention of ABC7, and the opportunity to present the weather on Eyewitness News. His other interests include working out, mountain biking, body surfing,
and spending time with his 3 dogs.
