HUMANE SOCIETY OFFERS HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS
Pasadena, CA - Halloween is a fun time for most but it can be a scary
and dangerous time for your pets. The constant noise, dangling decorations,
and goblins at the door can spook even the most well-adjusted animal.
Even if your pet is good with people, keep them safe in the back room
during peak Trick-or-Treating hours. Costumed visitors can frighten
your animals and the continuous opening of the door can be a chance
for escape.
If your pet is up for joining in, make sure the costume does not interfere
with peripheral vision, or cover the nose or mouth. Also, do not restrict
airflow by tying a costume around the neck. Remember, no tricks or treats
for your pets unless they are meant for the animals - candies can be
harmful and potentially deadly for your pets. Never give chocolate to
your pets!
Scarier than witches and ghosts is the abuse inflicted on animals.
Black cats tend to be bigger targets for those lured by Halloween myths
but all animals are vulnerable to malicious pranks and abuse. If you
see anything suspicious or dangerous regarding animals, please call
The Pasadena Humane Society at 626/792.7151 or your local police or
animal control department.
In order to keep Halloween high jinks to a minimum, no black cats or
kittens will be adopted out of the Pasadena Humane Society from Monday,
October 18 through Wednesday, November 3, 2004. All other cats and kittens
will be available for adoption. We are still running our special adoption-offer
of one cat or kitten or $45 and the second cat or kitten for just $10
more.
