Adoption Counselor (Full Time, Non-Exempt)

TYPICAL DUTIES:

o Screen prospective adopters
o Socialize animals with adopters
o Discuss animal behavior and training with adopters
o Help clients make appropriate matches for their home environment
o Educate the public on animal welfare
o Help with pet selection
o Conduct dog to dog socializations
o Assist in placing dogs with rescue agencies
o Greet and help direct clients
o Assist with behavior modification
o Additional duties as assigned by President, Vice President of Administration, and Adoptions Supervisor

Working Conditions:
Exposure to numerous animals including those with uncertain dispositions. 50% of work day is outdoors in all weather. Ability to physically manage animals of all sizes required. Day time position with weekends required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate, college graduate preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment. Must have a positive attitude and sense of humor.

SKILLS & ABILITY:
Outgoing customer service oriented person. Tactful and considerate of adopters and co-workers. Excellent knowledge of dog, cat, rabbit, and other pet breed characteristics, temperament, training, and handling is a must. Computer literate. Bilingual preferred (Armenian or Spanish)
